HVAC Training

When you decide to pick a HVAC college program, the first thing that you must find out is that your preferred destination college you have selected has the necessary accreditations. This is an extremely important factor, since it means that the training program supplied will be at the required standard specified by professional HVAC organizations.

The most prominent accrediting agencies for HVAC training programs is the National Center for Construction Education and Research, which is the Partnership for Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration, HVAC Excellence, North American Technician Excellence and Research, Environmental Protection Agency, and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration. You MUST select a college that has a minimum of at least one accreditation.

Smaller class sizes are also important, because then you will get one on one help from the instructors. A good HVAC college will also have an on college science laboratory with professional-grade tools. Visit the campus and get a feel of the place, the instruction rooms, the facilities available and talk to the faculty, if possible. You should also find out if they provide any flexibility in organizing classes for students with external jobs, and how you should go about requesting financial aid, if required.

A bonus offered by the Academy is that the fee for taking the exam is included in the cost of the tuition for the 10-week training course. The South Florida Academy of Air Conditioning prides itself on offering twice the training at just half the cost of their competitors. The 10-week program includes 400 hours of training, which means that you will receive all of the training you would at other HVAC schools while you are learning how to you get into an HVAC career. Because the course is only 10 weeks, it takes a fraction of the time it might take at other schools. The cost of the course is just $4,995, which includes the cost of the EPA test and a set of free tools that you will need to start training HVAC. The school also offers financing options for 50% or 100% of the cost of tuition.

Heating, ventilating, and air conditioning systems (HVAC) are in for hot job prospects and cool wages. Also known as climate control, those who are trained to perform maintenance, repair and install HVAC systems will see an increase in employment faster than average for other occupations. This is according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), through the year 2014.
